The result of the applications made tothe electors hasbeen, that so large a number of names has been affixed to the requisition, and such numerous promises of support given in addition, that the Central Committee of the Association already feel assured that ft is the wish of the majority of the electors that Mr. Whitaker shall ruin offer himself as a candidate, ? 'fhe numerous applications to the Committeo for information u to the progress made, and as to the probability of the assurances of support being sufficient to justify Mr. Whitaker in accepting the requisition, have induced the Committee, at a meeting held this day, to direct the publication of that document, together with a list of the names already affixed, and to intimate that it will be presented na soon as some lists from the more distant Settlements shall have been received.
