TOTHK ELECTORS OF THE PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND. THE "Auckland Constitutional Association,” formed “ for the purpose of securing, as tains possible, the carrying on of the Government of this colony an( j of this Province upon principles in accordance with the spirit of the Constitution Act; and to advocate such amendments in the Constitution as experience may from time to time point out to bo desirable ” finding, from official correspondence recently made public, that a dissolution of the Provincial Legislature will soon take place, have deemed it advisable to consult the Electors of the Province as to the propriety of inviting Mr. Whitaker to become a Candidate for the Office of Superintendent, when a vacancy shall occur. The result of the applications made to the electors has been, that so large a number of names has been affixed to the requisition, and such numerous promises of support given in addition, that the Central Committee of the Association already feel assured that it is the wish of the majority of the electors that Mr. Whitaker shall again offer himself as a candidate. The numerous applications to tho Committee for information as to the progress marie, and -as to the probability of the assurances of support being sufficient to justify Mr. Whitaker "in accepting the requisition, have induced the Committee, at a meeting held this day, to direct the publication of that document, together with a list of the names already affixed, and to intimate that it will be presented as soon as some lists from the more distant Settlements shall have been received. (Signed) Patrick Dignan, Chairman of Meeting. Auckland, Aug. 14, 1855. TO FREDERICK WH3TMEB, E3O. Sir, —Yv r e, tho undersigned Elec tors of the Province of Auckland, believing that the present very unsatisfactory state of our public affairs must shortly lead to another election for the office of Superintendent, request that you will again permit yourself to be put in nomination for that office whenever a vacancy shall occur, and, in the event of your consenting to do so, we promise to use our Lest exertions to secure your return.
