When General Lafayette was in the United States, two voting men were introduced to him. He said to one, “ Are you married ?” “ Yes Sir," was the reply. “ Happy man,’’ quoth the general. He then put the same question to the other, who replied, “ 1 am a bachelor.” “ Lucky dog’’ said the general. This is the best essay on matrimony extant. An American Will.— The following is the «opy of a will left by a man who chose to bo his own lawyer : — ■< This is the last will ami testament of me, John Thomas. I give all my things to my relations, to be divided amongst them the best way they can. N.B. — If anybody kicks up a row, or makes any fuss about it. he isn’t to have anything,—Signed by me, John Thomas."
