AUCK L A N D PROVINCIAL GOVERNMENT GAZETTE. PROVINCE OF AUCKLAND. • -*v, PROCLAMATION. By His Honor Robert Henry Wynyakd, Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, &c., See. WHEREAS by an Act made and enacted in the Parliament holden in the 15th and 16th years of the Reign of Her present Majesty, intituled “An Act to grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand,” it is amongst other things enacted that for each of the Provinces established in New Zealand there shall be a Superintendent to be elected by the persons duly qualified, to elect Members for the Provincial Council. And whereas by a Proclamation bearing date the sth day of March, 1853, made and issued by His Excellency Sir George Grey, Governor-in-Chief and Commander-in-Chief in and over the Islands of New Zealand, it is amongst other things provided that as soon as conveniently may be, after the voting for the Election of a Superintendent shall have closed, the Principal Returning Officer of the Capital Town of the Province, shall openly declare and publicly notify the name of the person who may have been duly elected at such election by a majority of the voters of the whole Province to be Superintendent thereof. And whereas the Principal ' Returning Officer for the Province of Auckland did on the 12th July, 1853, openly declare, and publicly notify that at the Election of a Superintendent for the Province of Auckland, I, Robert Henry Wynyard, was d dy elected by a majority of the voters of the whole Province, to be the Superintendent thereof. Now therefore, Ido hereby proclaim and declare that I have assumed the office of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland accordingly, and I hereby call upon the inhabitants of the said Province to be aiding and assisting me therein. R. H. WYNYARD, Superintendent, HEREBY DECLARE that the undermentioned Gentlemen have been duly elected to serve as Members of the Provincial Council for the undermentioned Districts, namely : CITY OF AUCKLAND. By His Honor Robert Henry Wynyard, Companion of the Most Honorable Order of the Bath, Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, &c., &c. \\T II ERE AS by an Act made and T t passed in the Parliament Holden in the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Years of the Reign of Her present Majesty, intituled “An Act to Grant a Representative Constitution to the Colony of New Zealand, it is amongst other things enacted that it shall be lawful for the Superintendent, by Proclamation in the Government Gazette, to fix such place or places within the limits of the Province, and such times for holding the first and every other Session of the Provincial Council as he may think fit. Now, therefore, pursuant to the authority in me vested' in that behalf, I, the Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, do hereby 'proclaim and declare that the first Session of the Provincial Council shall beholden at Auckland, and shall commence on Tuesday, the eighteenth day of October now next ensuing. , Given under my hand at Auckland, this sixth day of September, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and fifty-three. .
