FLAX.
We congratulate the Colonists and those interested in New Zealand, upon the improving condition of the Flax market in this country. The samples which have brought good prices consist of the common Maoii dressed flax, as usual, in a somewhat damaged state. The article is now beginning to be appreciated in this country, and if the Colonists were to form shipments of really good flux, well packed and carefully stowed, bejond the reach of damage from oil and sea water there is no doubt of its coming to a good market. But unfortunately, the enterprise which has been shown in this most important article seems to have abated, and in place of the fine silky substance which should have found its way home, nothing has an ived t>ut the hemplike produce "Which is chosen by the Maories as yielding the greatest bulk with the least trouble ; the Euiopeans, apparently, submitting to their dictation in the matter Vet even this brings a good pi ice though rubbish in comparison with what might be sent home. Wettustthia hint will not be lost sight of. The following are tbe rates to winch we allude, the sale having taken place on Wednebday last.
