Sir,—ln forwarding the enclosed communication from Major Last, the Officer commanding the Troops, I dp myself the honor to state, that from all I can learn, the party which has been discovered on the hills between Waikanae and Otaki, is one of the small bands into which the Rebels are divided, and is moving northwards.
