GIBRALTAR.
I /The.united forces were busily employed cut- 1 iting roads up to Rangihaeta'spah, "Gibraltar," and felling the bush. The only practicable approach to the pah, on the front side, is by a narrow ravine, along which only one or two men can advance at a time ; and a considerable detour will have to be made through a very difficult country, to get at it in the rear. Two howitzers had been conveyed, with extreme labour, to the camp, and eighty shells thrown into the pah with no perceptible result. We are informed that the rebels have dug warres seven feet underground, and have otherwise prepared lor a determined resistance.
