ALL Persons claiming to have made purchases from the Natives, under Certificates wai/ing the Crown's Right of Pre-emption, issued under the terms of His Excellency Captain Fitz-Roy's Proclamation, dated 26ih March, 1844, fixing the amount of Fees at Ten Shillings per acre, are required to send in, on or before the isth day ot September next, (a^ter which time no claim will be received or entertained), all the papers connected with their alleged claims, whether deeds or surveys, lor examination before such Commissioners as may be appointed, Parties desirous to have their confirmatory Grants from the Crown, lor their purchases, issued at an early date after the approval or the deeds and surveys, should make application for ttiis purpose in writing, to the Sur-veyor-General. ALL Persons claiming to have made purchases from the Natives under Certifi--cates waiving the Crown's right of Pre-emp-tion, issued under the terms of His Excellency Captain Fitz-Roy's proclamation, of the 10th day of October, 1844, and the Government regulations of the 7th December, 1844, fixing the amount of Fees at the rate of One Penny per acre, are required to send in, on or before the 15th day of September next, (after which time no claim will be received or entertained) all the papers connected with their alleged claims, whether deeds or suveys, for examination before such Commissioners as may be appointed. It is further notified that as it appears that the regulations and terms under which these certificates waiving the Crown's right of preemption were issued, have* in many cases, been evaded, no further steps, than the examination of these claims, will be taken until the views of Her Majesty's Government upon the subject have been ascertained. Colonial Secretary's Office, 15th June, 1840. Lieutenant-Governor directs atten- •^ tion to be called to the fact, that the Proclamation issued by His Excellency's predecessor, upon the 10th clay of October, 1844, regarding ihe terms upon which Governor Fitz-Roy intended to waive the Crown's right of pre-emption in favor of certain individuals, has beeu in no way acted upon by the Lieu-tenant-Governor. His Excellency further directs it to be notified, that he will not entertain or grant any application for waiving the Crown's right of pre-emption in favor of any individual, under the terms of the aforesaid proclamation, issued by his predecessor. He will, however, not fail to endeavour to devise and introduce some system by which Lands the property of the Natives may be brought into the market, under such restrictions as are required by the interests of both races.
