June 3. Rifleman, barque, 384 tons, Capt. Hammaek, from the Downs the 24th January, and Falmouth the 12th February. Passenger— Mr. Taylor. June 3. / Don't Know, schooner, 75 tons, Captain Thompson, from Waiheki, New Zealand, the 3rd ultimo, with a cargo of timber for Hobart Town. The Rifleman has made a very good passage considering the season of the year, although she had to go round Van Diemen's Land. She spoke no vessels on the passage connected with the Australian colonies. The / Don't Know left New Zealand for Hobart Town ; but owing to the late gales, could not get to the southward, and lias put in to repair her sails, and undergo some repairs. The schooner Fanny Morris, from New Zealand, bound lo Sydney, out beven weeks, put into Newcastle yesterday, in distress. Several of the passengers came up to Sydney last night, in the Sovereign, steamer. The Carysfort, 26, is to be ready for sea early next month, if the weather will admit, and her present destination is South America, to join the squadron under ltear-Admiral Sir G. 11. Seymour. The Carysfort takes out the new Governor of New Zealand, appointed to succeed Captain Fitzroy, R. N. [We take the above from a Morning Chronicle of February. There is evidently some blunder in it, as there is no talk of a Governor for New Zealand. Is Sir Charles Fitzroy coming to Sydney in her?]— Sydney Herald. The Joseph Soames, 620 tons, arrived yesterday; from London the 16th January, George Thomson, master. She lias on board 213 male prisoners, under the charge of Surgeon-Superintendent James Clark, R. N. The guard consists of 48 rank and file, with Captain Newenham, and Assibtint-Surgeon, of the 65th. The passengers are Major Cheap and Lieutenant Pidfold, of the 96th. There are also two rank and file of the 96th, and six women and eight children. Seven prisoners and three children died during the passage.— Hobart Town Courier, May 20.
