SECOND EDITION. SATURDAY, 4 p. m.

In consequence of yesterday bein^ a closed day at all the public offices the full delivery from the Posi Office of our files of Sydney newspapers, could not be obtained unti] this morning. The journals of the 26th March, the day on which the " Samuel Boddington" left Sydney , contain most important intelligence from India, and we therefore publish a Second Edition, gratuitously, for our regular subscribers. In England, news had arrived of the defeat of our troops on the Ist July last, and it was rumoured that the 24th llegt. would be immediately despatched to New Zealand. The conduct of Colonel Despard was subject of much animadversion in the English newspapers. In our next number we shall publish the detailed official account of the unprecedented conflicts, of three days, at Ferozeshah, with the Sikhs, — in which the celebrated Sir Robert Sale was killed on the first day. Lieut-Col. Bunbury was wounded, and most honorable mention is made, by the GovernorGeneral, of him and his Regiment (the 80th) for their daring gallant conduct. H. M. S. " Racehorse," arrived this morning from the Bay of Islands, bringing intelligence that H. M. S. "Osprey," was surveyed and condemned, by proper officers and, having been stripped of her copper sheathing, &c, she was left where she struck — and has probably gone to pieces during the late gales. The schooner "I Don't Know," arrived this dayr&fter~a passage of ten days, from Sydney ; she brought a mail of four letters, but it contained no newspapers ; yet, by the kindness of friends we are in possession of papers to the 3 1st March.
