TRISTAN DE ACUNA.
The Port Philip Patriot of the 18th of November publishes the following interesting statistical account of the affairs of this eccentric mid independent settlement: — "The Reward called at the island of Tristan de Acuna, and found there nine families, in all ninety souls. The governor, Mr. Glass came on board, he is pbotit 72 year* old, and is getting very infirm. There are eigbt above the age of 55 to 70, and nine from 36 to 50; the greater part of them are females, fiftyeight out of the ninety j they have everything growing on the island to supply shipping, but few call, it being out of the tracks of shipping to the East Indies and the Colonies. They are very much in Mai»t of common cottons for the. use of the females, as they have no means of proem ing; only slop shirts, from the few American whule ships that call there. They have about 400 sheep and about 90 bead of cattle $ plenty of pigs and poultry, and everything grows well; they have always a great stock left every year; potatoes in abundance, but they want a person to be sent out as a teacher. Captain Salmon in* tends to get a sulsctiption in London, and call on his next voyage out."
