Cricket. — On Saturday last, the Club held its first meeting for this season, on Bosworth Field. The day was cloudy, with a chilling south-west wind, which we presume, occasioned the small attendance. However, a match was soon made, the result of which was as follows :

We would avail ourselves of this opportunity to acquaint the followers of this noble English sport in this colony, that the laws , of the game have lately been revised in England by the Marylebone Club, and in a late match, (10th June, 1845), between that Club, and the Undergraduates of Cambridge, there wasevinced a full determination to conform to the new rules, and to put a stop to the high delivery of the ball. The regulations now are — " The ball must be bowled,— -not thrown or jerked, — and the, hand must not be above the shoulder at the time of delivery, and whenever it may occur that the bowler so closely infringes on this rule, so as to render it difficult for the Umpire to decide, whether the, ball has. been properly delivered, the Umpire shall call—' No ball.' " - "If the bowler shall toss the ball over the batsman's head, or bowl it so wide, as not to be fairly within reach of the batsman, the Umpire shall adjudge one run to the party in possession of the wickets, — anil such ball shall not be reckoned as one of the over : but if the batsman can* bring himself within reach of the ball, without leaving his ground, the run shall not be awarded." - - -
