AUGUST.—PHASES OF THE MOON.
Calendar tok Aucust. — Sow the various sorts of garden seeds, tender soits excepted. Sow flower seeds. Fruit trees and cuttings may be planted, the earlier they aie put in the bettor— ill ess the vines, and till in 1113 woods.— Plant potatoes for an eaily crop,— sow oats; eaily soits of wheat may be sown,— sow European flax seed ; if for the fibrous substance, to be thickly sown, if for seed, thinly sown.— Prepare Riound for potatoes and barley, by harrowing, as it is of importance to ! aye the ground well pulverized, previous to ri( ging it up, ior the success of these crops. — Barley ougut not to be &o\vu this mouth, if intended for a crop.— AAl garden operations should be got forward this month, — where the ground can be cleared, it will be of advantage to have it broken up as early as possible.
