Baskets.

In England, every auxiliary of commerce and comfort, in minor articles, are so easily and cheaply attained, that the want is scarcely ever felt, and little thought is "bestowed on where the supply is obtained ; but, in a young colony, there are many appendages to domestic comfort, that cannot be imported en account of their little value ; but which would be very useful, and among these, baskets may |be classed. This want might very soon be, supplied, for there are abundance of pliant | woods adapted for the purpose, especially the 'Supple jack, and we are somewhat surprised that so long a time has elapsed, without such easy and lucrative manufacture being commenced in Auckland. To stimulate parties having some knowledge of such business, a reward of Ten Pounds, will be given to the person who shall produce on the lsi January, 1846, the best basket of any useful kind made from materials grown in New Zealand.
