EXTENSIVE PURCHASE IK . WESTLAND. REEFTON, April 15. Mr David Ziraaii, managing director of the We-dlaiHl Gold Syndicate, to-.day purchased the Humphrey's Gully water race, mining claims, plant, and emiipment, near Jlokitika. It is a powerful water-race, and com-, mania a moslj extensive alluvial goldbearing gravel terrace. It is to he extended and connected with mining claims near Kanicri Lake, already prospected and proved payable by this syndicate. It is claimed to be the largest alluvial mining undertaking which has been started in New Zealand for many years. In addition to gold sluicing propositions, the syndicate holds valuable dredging areas at Arahura Valley. These have been systematically prospected by means of the Government 'Keystone drills, under the personal supervision of Mr Scale, Government officer,' and have given satisfactory results, and two Keystone machines are still at work prospecting. A Worksop dredge lias been purchased,'and is now being dismantled and transported for re-erection on the syndicate's frcohold area at Arahura Valley.; Sufficient ground has been already prospected and proved payable to induce the syndicate to purchase two additional dredges, The operations of the syndicate, am expected'by the pw> : moters to go far towards re-establishing the gold output of the West Coast.
