THIS YEAR'S ENTBY., . - '> x Oh Wednosday\nd Thursday'of this _ week the forty-sixth nnnual summer show of the North Ofago Agricultural and Pastoral Association will be held. Thcugh the entries for this year have fallen off considerably, they 1 must §e _ considered satisfactory in the light of . prevailing conditions, affecting railing facilities, farm labour, etc. Shorthanded as farmers and breeders in -' many cases are, it could scarcely be expected that'as much time as usual could' be spared to prepare animals and pro- • duce for exhibition purposes. In only one jcav, as a glance at'the table will 3how, have the entries fallen below this year's total. ' In the horses' section has occurred the principal decline,'-the entries hav-« ing dropped by 67 from, last year; in-- • • ■ deed, this year's is the smallest entry ■. since 1885; The cattle have maintain- ■ ed their position, having the largest entry of. three. years, while the entry -'■ of sheep is the lowest on record. The" other classes 'havo not fallon to, any appreciable extent, and,, though .'the'.; volume of'entries in the aggregate>lia3 decreased, .there is every reason to believe that the quality will 'be of the : : usual high standard.
