MOERAKI NOTES.
(From Our.Own Correspondent)
As the poet was charmed by the "green things growing," so is everyone who visits Moeraki just now. It appears as if. the hand of' Nature were endeavouring to recompense the residents for the loss of those away at present fighting our country's battles. On Wednesday the ladies had arranged to have an afternoon for Miss Smith, who was leaving the Moeraki School to take up the position as junior assistant in Moray Place; but as she had, just received word that day that her brother had been killed at the war, the function could not take place, Much sympathy is felt for Miss Smith in her sail bereavement, for she was, held in high esteem; and was the recipient of a handsome dressing case and writing case as a parting token of the good wishes she carries to Dunedin with her.
