There is heavy rain throughout Canterbury, 'molting the snow on the ranges and causing floods in all 1 the rivers, which arc .high and still rising. At Mendip Hills' Gin of rain fell in twelve hours, There has been a great loss in early lambs throughout the district. Koails are seriously damaged In all directions. The roads from Parnassus to Kaikoura are impassable, and the coach service has stopped running.
