PALJIKIISTON NORTH, September 6, The Provincial Executive of the 7av nior s union to-day passed ii resolution piotesting against the heavy taxation on Jand, as against tlie comparatively low taxation 011 income derived from capital invested in mortgages on land. The executive considered' that, in the case of heavily mortgaged properties, the nominal owners would be unduly taxed in comparison with the mortgagee, and that it would lie more equitable if the mortgagees paid the higher grade of ineomo tax and tlio fniincr the' lower grade of land tax, or, in the nl tentative, that, the, owners of M should be able to recover one-third frori; lie mortgagees -o.f the proportion o. wd tax due on 'account of a mortgage
