The new general man.had commenced his duties on- JamiaTvlS>th. Ih« creases'in the cook's and housemaids' salaries were recommended, The Health Officer reported, that three cases of scarlet fever had-occur-red during January. One new ease of tuberculosis had been reported, and one other case previously reported had died, Of the scarlet fever cases two ' were from Alma and one from Hillgrove. One case • was contracted" at Mount Somers, The tuberculosis case was from Moeraki. The following gifts for January were acknowledged:—Papers, Lady Miller and Mrs Hjorring; preserves. Mrs Peter Williams; vegetables <and rhubar,b. a friend; cakes ami sandwiches, Church of Christ; trout, Mr W. Perks; eels. Mr Sumpter; provisions, Colnmba Church. Accounts totalling £224 0s 2d were passed for payment.
