RED CROSS APPEAL

The Oan«iru % Circle had n. very encouraging response on Saturday to its' nppeni 'on belinlf of the -Red Gross. The total number of eggs received at the depot on Saturday, in connection with the scheme to raise 2000 dozen, was .100 dozen and; six eggs. The ladies of the circle who met on Saturday morning lyere most enthusiastic over the proposal, and members from various districts reported that the. project, was being very favourably received, particularly by the school children, who were entering into the work with boundless enthusiasm. A number of ladies and gentlemen offered to take charge of the work in connection with the scheme in various country districts, and if is anticipated that the object aimed at will bo readied, if not. passed, Mrs 11, S. Bishop will attend to the interests of the circle at Kurow, TTaliataramea, and Otekaike, Mr C'ron at Kakanui, and Mrs limes at Hilderthorpe, It was staled on Saturday that some of the schools had already begun collecting eggs, and were entering into ihe work very heartily.

The secretary of the Egg Circle wishes il to be known thai she will be in attendance at the depot .every day this week to receive gifts and to supply crates to those who desire I hem, A number of crates were sent out lo country districts on Saturday, and by this evening's trains crates will be sent to every station and siding which is within easy distance of a school, and it is hoped Ihe school teachers will see Hint the eggs are packed, properly and promptly, so thai (hey may be forwarded to (hp market with as little delay as possible, In connection with Saturday's gifts, the secretary of the circle desires to acknowledge contributions from the following:—
