An official communique says: The British repulsed a violent Bulgarian-of-fensive on the Struma and occupied Nevol'jen, The Italians attacked Lake Bnlkova. The Serbian, offensive is developing-. The advance guards have reached Bclavoda Valley. The French are operating on the shores of Lake Prespa. LONDON, October 0. A French official message says: The British forced the enemy to retreat on the Struma front. There is lively fighting on the whole of the Cernn front. Our aviators report great traffic on the enemy railways, BULGARIANS LAUNCH HEAVY ATTACKS, I * TERRIBLE SLAUGHTER BY ALLIES' GUNS. (Australian anu 37.7!. Cable Association.) Received October 8< at 5.5 p.m. AMSTERDAM, Octovber . A Bulgarian communique says: Our coiiiiter-nltack crushed the Serbian attempt to cross the Cerna near Okotoliivir. The enemy fleet bombarded Dodeagatch and caused unimportant damage. Qu'r aeroplanes caused the licet to retire. (Australian and N.Z. The British had hardly settled down at Yenikeni, when across the plain from -.Toplova, three thousand Bulgarians adAwed to counter-attack. When within reach of our guns they wore deluged in 'shrapnel. The Bulgarians fell 'in scores.' They fled back. Later they tried again, but shells fell on a group of forty and wiped out the lot. Finally the' enemy retired' to Toplova. The Bulgarians lost three thousand during the' fighting at Balagia. (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.)
