MENINGITIS AT TRENTHAM.
TWENTIETH REINFORCEMENTS GOING TO FEATHERSTON. PEECAUTIONARY MEASURES. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 19. Owing to the continuance of occasional cases of meningitis at Trent-ham* Camp, the Twentieth Reinforcements will be assembled at Featherston and will be equipped there, and receive probably.all their training there. A new canvas camp will be erected at Tauherenikau to make room for the influx of the greater numbers'to featherston. The authorities 'are still at a loss to discover the cause for. the meningitis. The general opinion is that the camp at.Trentham is in a- good climate. Medical experts say. that,' in."any event, meningitis is not a dirt disease, the germ being cia-rried only from man to man, The reason for the cleaning up and precautionary measures,, now being taken, is to prevent the spread of other ills, which may Teduce the vitality of the men, it being even suggested that occasional trips into the city may h'ave something to do with the meningitis.
