OFFICIAL ESTIMATES OF YIELDS. WELLINGTON, March 2. In view of the importance at present of the question of wheat supplies, the following summaries of reports obtained from lields inspectors of the Agricultural Department, which are published in the. Monthly Abstract of Statistics for February, will bt>. of interest. It is stated that the lotnl area under wheat in the Dominion amounted to .189,567 acres:— Hamilton—Very little wheat grown. Yield of ;!S bushels per acre from one crop of 40 acres. Cambridge. Estimates: Waikato County, 25 bushels; AVaipa, 22; Matamata, 21. Te Awamntu— Yields much better than anticipated. Estimated average, .'lO bushels. Wanganui.—Season has been exceptionally good. 'Estimates for counties: Patea, 40 bushels; Waitotara, 15; Wanganui, 3(5; Rangitikei, .15. Carterton—Only small areas. Estimate 10 bushels, Wairarapa and Featherston Counties. Rolhcrham Estimates: Amuri County, .10 to 15 bushels; Waipara and Cheviot, 25 to .10.

Rangiora Prospects much better than earlier in season, Estimates for counties: Ashley, L'ii to .'lO bushels; Kowai, 35 to 40; Oxford, 25 to 30; Eyre, HO to ,'!5; Itangiora, 40 to 45; Waimairi, 30. Lincoln—Estimate average yield of 110 bushels over district (Kllesmere, Springs, Wnirewa, Halswell,-J'aparua, Malvern, and Sehvyn Counties). Ashburton. General improvemenl since rains. Estimate, average of 22 bushels over county. Timarii.—Rain came too late to do much good, and any good effects neutralised by nor'-westers. Estimates: Geraldine.County, 27 bushels; Levels, 2.'!. .Pairlic—January rains improved position, but nor'-wester largely discounted effect. Original estimate of 22 bushels holds for Mackenzie County. Wainiatc—Estimate 25 bushels dver Waimale County. Oamaru— Good in portions of Waitaki County, but average estimated at 25 bushels. Pahnerston, Estimated averages: Waitaki (small portion), 25 to 30 bushels; Waihemo, 30; Waikouniti, 25 to 30, Yields would, have- been considerably less but for rains in January, Dunedin.—Yield of only crop in district, 40 to 45 bushels. Mosgiel Taieri County (part), 43 bushels; Bruce (part), 40," Grown and filled much better than was expected. Sutton—Outlook better, Expect 25 bushels per acre for Strath Taieri, Ranfurly.*—Slightly better llian before, but much cannot be cul, and 14 bushels holds as average over Maniototo County.

Lawrence.—Estimates: Bruce County (part), 29 bushels; Tuapeka (part), 33. •

Tapamii and Roxburgh.—Big improvement since beginning of 1915. Estimates: Clutha County (part), 30 bushels; Tuapeka (part), 40. Balclutha.—Big improvement in last few weeks. Estimates for parts of counties in district: Bruce, 35 bushels; Clutha, 33. Gore,—Crops looking well. Expect 40 bushels if favourable weather continues.

Invercargill. Very little grown. Average yield expected, 40 to 45 bushels.

Otaulau—Estimates, pails of counties in district: Southland, 35 bushels; Wallace, 37. Lumsdcn,— Marked recovery during last few weeks. Estimate 25 bushels for Southland County (part) and "0 for Wallace (part). Queonstown. Prospects improved wonderfully. Expect 30 to 35 bushels, Lake County,
