The Hoyal Society for the Prevention- of Cruelty to Animals, wliic.li has ils hendqnaiters in■ London, is malting a lug effort to assist the unfortunate horses'wounded at the front. Accosting to a circular rend at last night's meeting of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals the parent society desires funds to erect two thousand shelters for horses before and after treatment. It also urgently needs twenty-five .horse ambulances and motor lorries, fiOOft rugs, old or new, fiOOII woollen bandages, iJOOO ordinary head collars and 500 halters. The action of the secertary iirsendiiijr in to the parent society for the relief of wounded horses at the front was approved. Some discussion took place on the question' of approaching racing clubs and Agricultural ami Pastoral Associations for donations towards the object. .Members .generally were of opinion that if'the matter were brought under the notice of the various wing and agricultural bodies a ready response would be met with. Dr Lester stated that the racing clubs in Sydney were donating handsome sums to the Blue Cross Society, an institution which had been formed for the purpose of providing relief for horses wounded in the Avar, The objects of the society are similar to the S.P.C.A., and Dr Lester thought that if the racing clubs and affiliated bodies in Christclmreh were approached their response in support of I his worthy object would he liberal. After some discussion the matter was left in the hands of the chairman and secretarv. »
