Jacobs' most comical stories, was irresistibly funny, and sent tho nudioncc into roars of slaughter; Miss; Walters, In her song "Just a Song at Twilight,," accompanying, tho drnmntic; picturo of Hint name, wns. particularly pleasing, wliilo "Tlioflighty Monarch" (a Vita comedy), proved yet another factor towards the evening's success, "The Birth of Plants," a beautiful botanical film, is a class of picturo 'which is alt too seldom prcso'nted by (hose who run the "movies," and adds much to the worth of tho present entertainment. The series'will bo reproduced ithis evening.
Tho amalgamation is announced of the interests of two leading picturo theatres in Wellington—tho. Empress mid Everybody's,,lt is understood (says tho Dominion) that this will be brought .about by the'enlargement of tho New Zealand" J. D, Williams Co., proprietors of the Empress Theatre, which is in the hands of New Zealand Picturo Supplies Ltd, Tho now'firm will bo known as E. mid E. Pictures, Lid. The present directors of tho Now Zealand J. D. Williams Co, will remain, and to thoir numbers will be added representatives of the New Zealand Picture Supplies, Ltd. The programme of films for both theatres will be from thq repertoire of the New Zealand Picturo Supplies, Ltd. It is anticipated that Mr D, J. Nathan will act as chairman of the amalgamation, and that Mr E, J. Bighton, of the New Zealand Picture Supplies, Ltd., will be managing director.
