MEETING OF THE GENERAL COMMITTEE,

A meeting of the Garden Fete C'oinmittee'was hold last evening, the May. or presiding over a good 'attendance'; The chief, business was thc.cousldcra tion .of reports from the various subcommittees.

The Committee also reported that the programme was in a forward state, nnd under the control of Mr F. C. Burry, aqd they hoped to make tho concert a particularly attractive one, Mr Strachan and Mrs Williams resigned from.the Cominjttcc. Tt was resolved that the charges for admission should bo 'is, 2s, and Is, Mr Masson was appointed to the Tug-of'War Committee and Mr H ,G, N. McPhcrson to the Concert Committee. ,

The Programme Committee for the Feto.submitted a list of supplementary items to complete the programme, Chief among these .was the living flag to.be produced by n body of \ about 2-10 school children. 'The Tug-of-war ■ Committee submitted a proposal to have two tugs of war, one each ,for iirst and second grade,teams, with prizes of £2O and £ls rcscctivcly. 'Upon this there was some discussion, and it was ultimately decided to defer iiual decision until a public meeting to be convened for Tuesday oveuing next. , .Several other suggestions were made and these were also held over for consideration ut .the same meeting.
