DIRECT HOME STEAMERS
ALTERATIONS IN EASES AND , TIME-TABLE, WELLINGTON, August 21 With the partial dislocatkn of the Now Zealand-London direct steamship servico consequent'upon several of the steamers having been securbed by the 'Government as troop ships, the timetables of tito; New Zealand Shipping Company and the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company have been affected to some-extent. Owing to tlic Riiapchu having been chartered by the Government, there is no August stwuner for-London direct, and the. taking over of the Arawa and Atlienic. willmake the Corinthic. the first of the Shaw-Savill 'steamers to leave New Zealand.since the outbreak of the war, and th(it vessel is not timetabled to leave Wellington until Octo- , ber. ! A general'increase ii| .fares and freights will-also be.made, the addition being equivalent to 2o per cent. The - new stale will be brought into operation ■ .with (he Roiniiera, which is to sail from i Wellington, on September 2-1.
