BULL DOG AND MOTOR-CYCLE
A DISAGREEMENT; WELLINGTON, August 24, ' The allurement of a pair of leggings encasing the calves of a motor cyelist out Maiamar way yesterday proved too much for a rambling buli-rtog. As the .motor whizzed past there was a challenging bark and the dog bounded after Ihe motorist, The cycle was not going very fast, and the rider, who by the way had a young boy passenger, naturally slackened down when lie felt the teeth of the dog in his leggings. Then the cyclist kicked. The bulhtog, aiiuoyed, fastened his teeth, further up in the kuee above the leggings. The cyclist under such persuasion all but stopped. Then the diminutive passenger, at the bidding of his elder, jumped oil' and ran on to the footpath, With all this 'manoeuvring the motor overturned. and lay on the road, the wheels still whizzing round. The bull-dog apparently forgot, all about'the leggings, the knee of the owner of Die both, and i stood watching the strange-looking object, whirring on the roadway. The canine pranced round in imminent danger of having his lej;s wrenched oil' in the revolving wheel—as no doubt the watching owner of the machine hoped he would. Then the animal chanced to place his paws on the hot cylinder. There was a yelp of pain and the'dog careered away \at lop speed leaving the motor cyclist who was Ilueutly voicing his opinions about the danger of such unchained animals to the wheeled fraternity,
