F, Massey stated this evening that the Commission set up under "The Regulation of Trade ami Commerce Acl," would be as follows: His Honour Mr Justice Stringer, pre sident of the Arbitration Court, (chair man); The Hon. John Burr, M.L.C.; Mr J. Begg (Otago); ' Mr George Joseph Garland ( A. ick land);
Mr William jSliliio (Oamaru): , Mr George AVilson (Wellington); The 'Commission''is to inquire into: (a) 'J'lio state of tlie prices in New Zealand of lvlieat, Hour, bread, oa;meal, beet', mutton and any other articles, •whatever of food or, drink; on the lirst day of August, JDII,- and at any time thereafter; (b) Tlie quantity, situation, demand', supply or possession of any such articles of food or drink in. New Zealand;
(c) The advisability of the exorcise by the (iovcrn'or-iii-Gound of the powe,' to Jix and determine the maximum price iii New Zealand or any such articles of l'ood or drink and whether dillVmif maximum prices should be lixed i'ui' the same articles of food or drink, iii its.' pect of different 'forms', ; modes, cimdi'tions, or localities of trade, .commerce, sale or supply.
