SCHOOL SCRIPTURE CLASSES.
ANNUAL DISTRIBUTION OF PRIZES. The annual distribution of prizes in connection with thu Scripture classes in the town schools took place on Thursday night, when there was a large attendance. The Mayor presided. I The following annual report was submitted': "The Scripture classes, in connection with the public schools throughout the year have been "conducted by the n/lniiiters as follows: North School, Revs. "R. J. Porter and W. J. Williams; Middle School, Mr T. H. Matbieson and Adjutant Dixon; South School, Revs. W. Wright an'l F. G. Buckingham. Tho attendance at ifoo classes has been very satisfactory and the interest taken in the lessons continues unabated. The lessons were tafoen from tho Acts of the Apostles with the exception of the lower standards at tho South School, where tho closing chapters of St, Mark/s. Gospel formed the BUbjoct of the teaching. Tho Rev.-J. 0. Paterscm conducted tho examination of the papers on tho Acts-, and Mr W. Cron those dealing
with the .Gospel of. Mark, Both these gentlemen were heartily ed for their' services.'- The 'result shows that good . work has been done, and wci congratulate Gladys' and lviy Kean 'on having obtained 100 per cent in the examination. We aro glad to be able to state that this the seventh year of .this branch of our work has been a success, and trust in the coming year to bare the same taindly sympathy from parents and teachers and the same interest on the part of ihe scholars as in tho past, To the several School Committees, headmasters, and teachers we record.our grateful thanks for the opportunity afforded, and for kindly help rendered In what we consider to be ono of the Important privileges of our Cbiistlan work,"

■ A special prize presented by Mr J. M. Brown was presented to Gladys Kean and Ivy Kcnn, each of whom obtained the highest possible percentage of marks at the examination.
Pupils from tho various schools contributed action songs and physical exercises, which were carried out in an excellent manner and met with duo appreciation.
The Revt. J. O. Paterson addressed the laudience on "Why we should read the Bible," • The Rev, R, J, Porter, seconded by Adjutant Dixon, moved a hearty vote of thanks to the Mayor for presiding, to Mrs Buckingham for distributing the prizes, to the School Committees and 'teaohere for their assistduring the year, and to Mr J, M. Brown for donating a special prize. Response was made by Messrs Malcolm, Aldred and Riach.. Tho proceedings closed with the benediction.
