Especially should 1 they congratulate the President, Mr Basil Setb-Smith, .and the secretary. The show had been, a very, good one, and he thought there was j}Ot one person attcndini it that was not pleased. Ho was glad they had the side-shows back. Their fees had increased the receipts and helped to, swell the attendance, making it a record, The side-shows served to attract a great many people wlioj took little interest in slock. The President; agreed with Mr Buckley's remarks in regard to the side-shows, White they exercised proper discrimination as to the shbws that should be " adrnftted no harm coull re^ujt,

=Sheep passes,- . The Preset said lie, wished to refer to a matter in connection with the sheep classes. At the tlloW jpst past he had heard several complaints made tbflt there. were -not sufficient classes 'in some of the sheep sections to gustily-or encourage competition, finis was a matter tint had been debated before, but to test the fceliag o,' the Committee he would move that it ty a. recommendation to the incoming (swfttaa that tee he Sesame number ft aff glares as in the of course, barring shorn sheep, would include English Leicesters,! There .wasino'need to rush the matter through, but he brought it »P now while the facts were hot in their minds, Mr Douglas drew attention to the fact that at the last show, toy had four classes in which there were only two exhibitors Jn ijheep and two in which there was only ione eaob. That was ury poor .competition, A terrible lot of scooping the poof went on, but that could not kg prevented. 'the. piri=ramine anil no exhibitors in them nothing .would t« -rloat, and the extra clasjes would encduiage .competition. They had heard the ; matter spoken of at the show just past,' and it was ; a fact that.many shows had better programmes than .they had.. . .- . ..'.. ' Mr (Taylor thought), the President's prcposalavery good one, and he seconded, the motion. ■The President oeid lie did not wish to cause the Association loss, hut he did 'j\ot think his proposal would' have that effect. In any case it was only a recommendation to the incoming Committee.and could le re j ferred to o special sheep, committee afterwards.

The motion was carried. -Turnip Competitions,-' Mr Taylor reported in regard to the proposed Held turnip compeli' tions, that Ine sub-committee set up were unanimously of opinion that it was not advisable to go on with the competitions this year because of the exceedingly dry season. In some parts of the district the turnip crops were in a very bad way, and in some places it'would very doubtful if there would be even one turnip left. They felt certain that the competitions, could not this year receive the support mcessary to launch ttom'suc' cessfnlly, and it would be much better if a start were made under more favorable auspices. At the same time the Committee thought it was well that they should; as a society, keep the competitions before them; and they thought that a recommendation should be made to the incoming Committee to the effect that they cor tinuo the Committee for the coming year.

The Committee's report as follows was then unanimously adopted: '■' That, considering -the unfortunate dry season field •, competitions for 11)10-1911 be abandoned, and we recommend that the incoming commit-' tee. be advised fa forjsulate these competitions during 1911 for 1911--li) 12 season." -ThanksOn the motion of Mr Buckley, the 'Con-mittee resolved to recognise the I servicer of the St. John Aml)iilanc3 Brigade, who had attended at the show on both days, and make a donation to the Brigade funds. The thanks of the Association were also accorded the Sergeant of Police for the efficient manner in which he had controlled 'tins traffic on show day; to Mr J.- B. P.eid fcr a truck of green feed ;' to Messrs W. L. Elliott aniftt. 1\ Collis, and to Mr Duncan, and Iris staff and Mr Piper (of the Railway Department'). In proposing the vote of thank's to Mr Duncan' and his staff the President said that he did not think they bad ever had the traffic so well managed nnil such courtesy shown as they had this year. Mr Duncan had superintended the work himself and had been willing to do all he could to oblige the ConimittK). Other members spoke in a similar strain, one remarking that it seemed, to; Mm as if Mr Duncan owne 1 ! bait the stock on the ground ; he was so careful with it. The President expressed his,, personal thanks to (the Committee and stewards for the work they had done to make the show a 1 success. He was a new chum as president, but all had been thoroughly loyal and helped him.

The following new members were proposed: D, Newton (Ngapara), J. L. Barry (Georgetown), W. G. fiewell (Waiareka), O. H. Kent (Oamaru), J. H. Babingtpn (Oamaru), B. Kelland (Timaru). It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Livtogstiono, to make a donation of £1 Is to the funds of the S.P.S.A. Mr Little suggested that they should have some seating accommodation round- the ring. The grnndstaud was not sufficient for all, an* many ladies had to stand. ; His suggestion was generally approved, and was adopted as a recommendation to the incoming committee. A vote of thanks to the chairman concluded the meeting.
