TIMARU OPERATIC SOCIETY.
The Oamaru public will be pleased to hear that the above Sooiety intend staging the well-known comic opera, "Boccaccio," in the Opera House on Deceber 16th. This will be the first occasion that the Timaru Operatic Society has visited our town, 'and we feel sure the sister town's society will be given a real good welcome.
The Timaru Herald, in their rePort of "Boccaccio," says: "During the e. I ght years that the Operatic Society has been in existence, it has done good service in encouraging the musical talent of the town,, and. in providing new material for the concert platform by bringing out fresh soloists. It has put on many excellent works during that time, but the Production tjf last .bad many features that gave it pride of place over its predecessors."
Notwithstanding the big ■ expense in producing the opera, populir prices will be charged : Dress circle and reserved stalls 3s, stalls 2s, pit Is. There will 'be no early doors. The box plan will be opened at Begg's next week,
