THE TRAMWAYS STRIKE.
Per Press Association. / Auckland,, May 25. •A conference was held in reference to the tramway strike this morning, be-. Iween the Mayor, Mr Trocar, Mr Wnlklnto .(the Company's managed) nr.d Mcßossor (Union- eorretnrj?). Mr Trpgcar slated that lie lmd lai .in consultation with' the Mil ikter of-La-bor, and pointed out that the' Conciliation. Amendment Act, clnuso 'C'2. made provision for such a'crisis, by the appointment of a special J : o:»'d of conciliation, composed of two experts from each side, with n chairman rfv)ted by agreement, or failing that, appointed by'tho .Government. On'o of the.conditions was that the men must resume work at once, and both sides abide by the decision of the Cdiirt, which must 'berejardtVl ns liiiil. At the afternoon conference, after an address by Mr 'J'regcar, (ho following mo'tion was submitted ami carried : "That this union agreed to the provision contained in clause 51 ami-52 of tho'Act of 1905, referring to tho Board, of Conciliation; (2) thai tho Union. agreed to tho appoiiilmciit; of two.monitors to a toard of conciliation with full power .to net in that capacity, and to''iwsMorthe matter in dispute; (3) thai the Union is willing, to .accept tho finding of such a board- as final, providing. tln> Company does lihwisc; (4) that as eoon as a guarantee is given in writ' ing hy both parties tho service be va sumed,"
Subsequently Jfr Walklato atbndod tho meeting, and on behalf of tlw company, agreed to tlwsc terms,, lioth parties signing a bond agreeing to abide by tho decision of> the board,
