AX INTCIIKSTONU COM'.'A Hi SON, In a subjoined (able our readers will find an interesting comparison ol the rateable values for the various ridings in the County of Waitaki and the respective iljoroughs nf Oaniarti and Hampden. The Valuation is that arrived at by the Government Valuation Department and it v.iil be seen that there is a very substantial increase in the-, ridings of I'ajiaiMio, Waiareka, Kakamti, .Olejiopo, and Mocraki, and in tlvp on:ou,;ii ol Oamaru, all of which have been • revalued this year. The. other lidingsAlini'iri, Otekaike, lAwamoko, and Incliolnie—and the borough of Hampden will he revalued next year. The figures are subject to' the revisions oi the .Assessment Court'(in the cases »f Olepopo anil iiloeraki slight reditu liens were made 011 Friday at Hampden), hut the amount is small, and will not affect the tolal to any very appreciable extent. The increase in 'the ridings of the counties is largest in the cases of the Waiareka and Otepopo-, about £75,000 in •each instance, .the former being in fact particularly in need ol it, as Mr O. -Livingstone, the member for the riding, will'readily admit.
