BOWLING TOURNAMENT.

By Telegraph, Duncdin, January 20. The Bowling Tournament was concludcdl to-day, when the weather conditions were again perfect. The final in the singles was played off in the morning between ,J, (J, Gow (Timaru) and 11, Garforth (Gore). For some ten heads the game was evenly contested, the Timaru representative being one up. The llih head was a perfect one, Garforth leading off with two tpuchcrs, hut Gow was nof to bp denied, and drew a toucher, which Garforth rested out with his last, and lay one. Gow trailed gently, scoring two, thus making him 11 to Garforlh's 8. On the 13th head Gow started with a toucher, the Clinton player making three-splendid efforts to rest the winning shot, One to Gow. On the succeeding head Garforth drew a fairly good one, which his opponent failed to displace.-Gow 12, Garforth 9. On the Hlli head Garforth made good use of his first thivc bowls, but Gow saved'the situation with his third howl, his ppponcnp beipg too heavy with his last. Another single to Gow,-who was 4 up, Op the- next head Gaiioilh played poorly, allowing Gow to add livo, the score at this stage being: Oow .15, Garforth 9, The 10th head resulted m> a brace to Gow, who was then i up, with five beads to go. On the succeeding head Garforth notched one, thus getting into double figures. The play on the 18th head was rather disappointing, the Timaru player scoring another couple, making him 19 to Garforth's 10.
