| Twenty-two species of mosquitoes are ; found in Florida, says The Druggist's , Circular. Thirty-six species, according to , Giles, are found in the whole of North . America; but it has also been asserted i that there are as many in New Jersey . alone. For the entire world about 300 , species have been described and accented ! and there are probably 200 marc. From . the sanitary point of view the anophles ; and stcgomyiac are the most important. iTbc former are malaria-carriers Florida ,has one species of this genus), and the . second arc the yellow-fever carriers (Flo- , rida has one species, the fasciata, which it is thought may be the only culprit of the genus). In addition to these two , very important diseases, it is known that : mosquitoes transmit the filaria probably the Trypanosomata, and the specifio cause of dengue. They are also held responsiblc for certain animal disoascs.
