The Committee appointed some time ago to canvass for subscriptions for the . 'lown Hall Fund met last evening, his Womhip tho Mayor (Mr 11.. Milligan) in the' chair. Considering the question of raising the balance of the money, it was agreed to collect the amounts promised at an early convenient time. As to the balance of the required amount the offers of the North Otago Amaleur Athletic and Cycing Club for a sports meeting on the 9th November, the Musical Society for tho " Eh>li " concert, nfld thp Boating C(ub fpr its opening afternoon were each accepted, and tho Mayor also mentlonod that the Garrison Band intended to hold an open-air concert In the gardens some evening presently.
