ENTERPRISE BUILDING SOCIETY.
The following is the directors' report to be read at tho annual meeting of shareholders in this Society, to be hold on Tuesday night! " Your directors have much pleasure in submitting the iol lowing report and balance-sheet for the third year of tho Society. " The directors are pleased to be able to congratulate t.io shareholders on the assured position the Society now occupies, and on its continued success, in spite of tho very slight nGreasc in membership, advances having been made to the extent of nearly £2OOO. " The year was begun with a credit balance of £7l 12s Bd, and closes with a credit balance of £245 14s 9d showing that, oven with its limited membership, the Society may confidently be expected to return handsome' dividends to those who remain in it to the termination. " During tho year there have been three appropriations—two by sale and one by ballot, the premiums on tho former amounting to £165 10s. " The lust sale having been of three shares, or £450, the next ballot will also be for three shares, or £450, and the directors have pleasure in announcing that this will take place on 18th December, in the Athenaeum Hull, and take this opportunity of reminding members that, in order to parti -ipate, they must be financial on tho pay night preceding tho draw.
"The directors are thoroughly satisfied with tho nature oi the securities held for all advances made hitherto.
" Notice of motion to amend rules 1, 8, and 116 appears on last page. " The retiring directors are Messrs Hay, Hood, and Lane, who are eligible, and offer themselvee for reelection. " Tho following members also offiS themselves for election to the directorate :' Mr D. Moodie, Mr All. Avery, and Mr James Macdonald. " The directors regret to say that Mr J, H. Barr, Chairman of Directors sinco tho formation oi tho Society, has seen lit to sever his connection with it, and take this opportunity of placing upon record their sense of the Society's obligation to Mr Barr for the great interest ho has always takon in its welfare, and for tho amount of valuable time-he has dovoted to its management, :.^!<Miß!ii

CHRISTCHURCH GRAIN AND PRODUCE MARKETS, (Christchurch Press.) Business in the local grain and produce market has scarcely been resumed since the interruption by the holidays, but it appears pS if matters will continue to be very quiet. It wasj hoped that there would be H move in wheat this month, but there is nothing of the kind so far. In fact, prices, if anything are rather we a ker |uid purchases are, being made on a lower basis than the quotations that havo been published for some time past. Hunters have been bought at at 3s 5d and 3s 6d, delivered at tho mills, two lines totalling over 500 sacks having boen token at those figures, and a small quantity of Tuscan at 3s 7d. There is a fair quantity of these two varieties offering, but very little pearl, which still maintains a higher relative v a lue. Oats are practically unsaleable in any quantity, no more spaco being obtainable by direct steamers to Lon don. A fairly large quantity of potatoes still appear to be left en hand, as several considerable lines have been offered, but, owing to the limited demand, the price lias dropped considerably, Sales have been made at 22s 6d to 255, and 20s is all that : is offered for large lines. The following are current prices paid to farmers, free of commission, except where otherwise specified: Wheat-Pearl 4s, Tuscan 3s 6d to 3s Bd, Hunters 3s 5d to 3s Od, at country stations, Oats (nominal)-Heavy Canadians Is 4d to Is Ed, short feed Is 3d to Is 4d, Duns Is 2d to la 3d, and Danish Is Id to Is 2d, at country, stations, Barley (nominal). Beans-2s 9d to 3s, at country sU lions. Flour (millers' quotations)— Roller £9 5s per ton;' Pollard-£3los, Bran, £3. oatmeal-£9. White Clover—Superior 9d to lOd, good 8d to 9d, inferior 6d to 8d per It).
Cowgrass-Extra good 7}d to Bd, lower quality 6d to 7d per lb. Pe-is (nominal). Oatsheaf Chaff, £2 to £2 2s, at country stationa, Potatoes (nominal)-Derwents, 22s Cd to 255, at country stations. Cocksfoot—lolb seed, 3d; 111b, 3d to 3id; 121b to 131b, 3Jd to 4d; 141b, 4d, Dairy Produce—Cheese, factory, sid to 6d, dairy 5d to 5Jd, loif cheese 6d to 6Jd; butter, factory, local lOJd; North Island, lOd to lid, f.0.b., Wellington ; farmers' separator, 9d to lOd; dairy, 8d to 9d for prime; salt (in boxes), 8d to 9d; 9Jd, f.0.b.; eggs, 9d per dozen,
