Betting: 6 to 4 on Battalion, 2 to 1 ftgainob Mirolla. Battalion led into the straight, closely followed by Mirella, and a great race home resulted in favor of BatUlion by a neck. Time, 2mins 37«ccs. j Two-year-old Maiden Stakes -Wood- ! lark, 1; Nevada, 2; Ladykiller, 3. Eleven started. Woo by half a length. Time, lmin 31soos. Donowter Handicap— Syerla (Fielder), 1 ; Merloolas (Smith), 2 ; Tramp (Tracey), 3. All the final acceptors ran. Bottiug : 6 to 1 Syerla, 8 to 1 Ace of DUraood-, 12 to 1 Merloohs and Vedette. Tho New I Zealand candidate was amongst tho | leaders at the start, and by the time the sheds were reached had a loid of half a length from Syerla. After this bo fell away, and Syerla won by three lengths from Merloolas, Vedette finishiug fifth. Time, lmin 40^acca, St. Leger— Amberito, 1; Tola, 2; Bollwood, 3 The only starters. Won easily by threeqaarters of a length. Time, 3min8 1330C3. No betting. Am* bcrito'a quotation was 100 to 7 on, High Weight Handicap— Hempio, 1 ; Clyde, 2} North British, 3. Twenty started. Won by a head. Time, lmin 1636C8. Received April 10, at 6 p.m. Bydnsy, April 10. Belting on the Sydney Cup is dull. Battalion is backed to win 400 at 100 to 11. Amborito it (supported for 600 at 4 to 1, then hardened. The latest quotations are ; Amborite 7 to 2, Syerla 11 to 2, Merloolas, 6 to 1, Battalion 8 to 1, Cravat and Mirolla 10 to 1.
