CRICKET. (BY TELEGRAPH.) Chrlstchurch, January 23.
The Interprovincial cricKet match vra6 continued this morning in perfect weather, and the rain of yesterday had not affected the wicket. Another sensational day's cricket was provided, although only 500 spectators watchedthe proceedings. Wellington's n'rst innings •was closed with 401 on the score bheet for the loss of 8 wickets. Williams increased his score to 163, and Ashbolfc and Benbow were not out with 16 and 12. Canterbury's first innings produced 348 runs for the loss of 6 wickets, Sims and D. Reese, two colts, scoring 103 (not out) and 96 respectively ; C. Ridley put up 52, Clark 46, Wheatley 21, and Fowke 17 (not out). The game was drawn, as the Wellington men leave to-night for home. The batting of the two youngsters were magni6cent displays.
