Tha august councillor deemed this to be im proper, especially when by a little tact and a deal of humbug combined, tin c difficulty of finding employment for one of his many relations could be overcome » by getting his good old father-in-law intc the borough service as a practical grave: j spreader. This he actuary did the othei evening at a meeting of the Works Com- ; mittee. Now, this councillor being a " member of the Works Committee, and part inspector of all works carried on m the borough, has a very fastidious taste . for gravel spreading, and that taste can only be satisfied by the workmanship of one man, and that man the councillor's father-in-law. The councillor is standing for the position of Mayor, and feels satisfied that by a block vote of the abovementioned cousins and aunts, etc, , to be I returned, — I am, etc., Vera.
