June 26. I Railway communication is entirely bus- j pended. Several slips have occurred on the line, and the approach from here to the Pohanguia bridge has been washed away. The punt and boat were carried away m the Lower Gorge, bo tho mails from Wellington and the West Coast must come via Wairarapa.
