WAITAKI COLLIE DOG TRIAL.

The weather was good and there waa a forge concourse of people ab the dog trial. All ths officials worked very hard to get the events off without a hitch, and the judges gave every saiisfac'ion, there being no unpleasantness at a'l. The members of the club held a smoke concert on the evening of the first day of the trial, at Mr Roberts' Hotel, and quite a jo;ly party they were. The following aie the results : Class I. — Heading, bringing baok and yarding, i mile. Time, 15min. First prizo LlO, second L 6, third L 3. Points — Heading 4, bringing back 8, and yarding 12. Mr W. M'Kellar's Bess, 16 pointsHeading 2, bringing back 5, and yarding 8 ... ... ... ... 1 Mr J. Fraser's Clyde, 14 points — heading 1, bringing baok 5, and yarding 8 ... 2 Mr Walter Hogg's Darky, 13 pointsheading 1, bringing back 5, aud yarding 7 3 Class II — Hnntaway, about J mile ; head, bring back, and yard. Time, 250i1d. Firsb prize LlO, second L 6, third L 3. Points — Huntaway 10, bringing back 10, yarding 10. Mr Walter Hogg's Darky, 25 points — Huntaway 9, bringing back 10,
yarding 6 1 Mr Walter Lane's Don, 23 points— huntaway 8, bringing back 6, and yarding 6 ... 2 Mr A. Gunn's Help, 5 points — huntaway 5 3 Class 111. — Heading and bringing back

away J mile. Time 10 tnin. First prize Mr G. li.berts' gold chain value 6 guineas, second prize Ll 10s, third prize Ll, Points — Noise 10, huntaway 10, under command 10.
Mr W. Moore's Ban, 23 points — noise 7, huntawiy 8, under command 8 1 Mr J. Fraser's Clyde, 20 points — noise 6, huntaway 7, under command 7 2 Mr W. M'Kellar's Toss, 17 points— ! noise 6, huntaway 5, ander command 0 ... ... ... ... 3 Great interest was taken m this clasß, and the contest was a keen one, there being an entry of 13 dogs. There was only a difference of 3 points between the winners of the firat and second prizes. Great credit is due to Mr Roberts for tha hearty way m which he supports the j Waiaki Collie Dug Club, he having given I a gold medal for a prize last year, and a very valuable gold chain this year.
