COMMERCIAL. STOCK AND PRODUCE SALES.

Mr E. P. Burbury (on behalf of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company Limited) report* as follows : Sheep. — The entry at the Junction Yards yesterday was small. Valnes for batchers' •heep were much easier than last tale day, bnt the demand for stores was brisk. We ■old aa follows : 57 fat 4, 6, and 8-tooth ewes at 9m 7d, 18 crossbred hoggets (in the wool) *t> 12a 9d, 86 threeqaarterbrcd ewes. 4, 6, and 8-tooth (in the wool) with Uinbs at foot given in, at 14s 8d ; 231 2 and 4tooth half bred ewes and wethers at lls Id, Daring the fortnight we have experienced good enquiry for hoggets off the shears, and hare placed several lines at up to 9s. Have also sold some lots in the wool at corresponding prices. Cattle.— There was a good entry of stores, which met with a very fair demand. Forward bnllooks brought np to L 6 7s 6d ; do heifers, L 4 to L 4 10s. No fat cattle in the yard*. Pigs.— We sold 9 weaners at 9s, 6do at ss, 2 sows at 50s. Wheat.— There is very little doing in this cereal, millers only operating in a hand to month manner. We repeat former quotations of 4s to 4s Id for best velvet and Tuscan, on trucks, sacks extra. Oats.— The tone of this market is somewhat easier than it was a fortnight ajro, bnt a revival, so far as local business is concerned, may be looked for, we think, when harvest orders commence to come in. Judging by the rmall quantity on offer stocks held must be very light. We quote best Danish 2s 2d f.0.b. ; prime milling, 2s 3d to 2s 4d f.0.b., sacks extraBarley.— None offering. — We quote prime milling at 2s 9d to 3s j feed lines, 2s 2d to 2* 4d, tacks extra.

Messrs Fleming and Hedley report that there was a Urge attendance at the Junction yards yesterday. \ Sheep, — The entry of sheep was under the average* Competition was rather slack, bofc fair prices on the whole were obtained. They yarded 95, and sold— Ob accotmH of Means Banter and Cameron ; 30 Tery prime crossbred wethsrs at 13s 4d, 4C prime fat crossbrsd ewes at lls, and ] 3 do do at 10a 3d. On account of a client t 14 merino ewes with 50 per osnt of Umbs at 5« 8d and 3 fat cross* breds at 10s. Cattle.— There was a larfe entry, sereral prime fat bollocks and heifers and a onmber of good stores being forward. The sale throughout was a good one, especially for ■tores in forward oondition, and any lots coming forward will meet with ready sale They yarded 83, and sold— On account of Rev. A. Gifford : 2 fat steers at JLS Is each, fat cow at L 5 Is, and heifer at IA 10s. On account of a client : 6 fat steers and heifers at L 6 7s 8d each, 4 steers in forward condition at L 4 lls, 4 3-year-old heifers at L 3 17s. 6 3-year-old heifers (fat) at L 4 17s, fat cow at L 4 19s, and 2-year-old heifer at L 3. On account of Mr James Alsxander : Fat cow, at L 4 lls On account of Mrs Belcher : Fat cow, at L 5 65.; do do, at L 5. On account of Mr W Wallace : Fat heifer, at L 5 10s. On account of Mr Busbatch : Cow in milk, at L 2 ; heifer calf, at 16s. On account of Mr John Black : Fat heifer, at LA, and store cow at L 2 12s! On account of Mrs Pine : Cow in calf, at L 4 14s. On account of Mr Thos Nicholson : 9 calves, at 17s each. On account of Mr J. Harvey, cow in milk, at L 5. On account of Mr Sparks : heifer in calf, at L 3 12s 6d ; store cow, at LI 15s. On account of Mrs Peters : cow in milk, at L 3 16s. On account of a client : cow in calf, at L 5 7s 8d ;do do, at L 5; heifer in milk, at IA 12s 6d. On account of Mr Padkin : 2-yearold heifer, at L 4 2s ; yearling do, at L 2 12s 6d. Pigs.— There was a small entry, and prices showed a slight improvement. Best wsaners brought up to 10s 6d ; small weaners, ss ; stores, to 18s.

Mr Brace Christie reports on the usual fortnightly stock sale held at the Junction yards yesterday as nnder : There wm a moderate attendance of fanners and others, and good competition for every offer. Sheep. — A medium entry. For fat 2tooths snitable for freezing prices ranged Irom 11s to 13s 4d, according to the weights. Fat crossbred ewes at from 8s Id to Us. One line of halfbred hoggets in the wool realised 11s Id. Crossbred ewes with 90 per cent of lambs sold at 14s Bd. Sold on account of Mr John Nicholson : 20 fat crossbred ewes, at 10s ; also 15 crossbred ewes (small), at 8s Id. On account of Mr George Ledingham : 50 fat 2-tooth (threepuarterbred), at list Cattle—A large entry; Fat, of which tnere were some nice medium weights yarded, sold at «qual to 22s 6d per 1001b. line greater portion of the entry consisted ■teen and heifers, which were in demand, and sold at a slight advance on last sales! 252L5!!? of •» descriptions were well represented, and only for good young cows just calved and at the calving wfs competition keen. Hornall : 1 cow, at Li 12a 6d Pig*.— A smaller entry than usual, prices if anything being a thadt better than the former sale. Sold on account of Mr Sims : slips, from 12s 6d to 16s each. On account of Mrs Daly : 5 porkers, at up to 18s Od each. On account of Mr J. Drummond : 2 pigs, at 10s each* Grain and Produce,— -Owing to the holidays, business in this line is almost at a standstill, and quotations are only nominal. Wheat.— Prime milling velvet and Tuscan is enquired for, and is worth 4s Id to 4s 2d per bushel, sacks 4d ; seconds, 3s 6d to 3s 9d; whole fowl wheat, 3s 6d to 3s 10d, sucks 4d. Oats —There is a good enquiry locally for feeding lines. Beyond this there is very little doing. Operators are waiting to see what effect the removal of the duties in New South Wales will have upon the markets. Prime short varieties are worth 2a 2d to 2a 3d ; prime Danish, 2s Id to 2s 3d; sacks 4d. Barley.— Prime malting is worth 2s 64 to 2a 9d, sacks 4d ; milling, 2s to 2s 2d ; feeding and inferior, Is 9d to 2s, sacks 4d. Potatoes,— Derwenta are almost unsaleable. Prime new kidneys are worth L 7 to LS per ton.
