Ihe boy Herbert Orr, who ihot himself last night oa being captured by a detective, died at 1 30 to-day. Mr Justice Williams delivered ! judgment to day in a case of interest to minors, In the case submitted the contention wm that the bankruptcy of one of the parties in a mining claim put an end to the partnership. His Honor held that the effect of seotion 183 of the Mining Act is to make shares assignable generally and to place the assignee in the position of a member of the partnership. Mr A. D. Lubecki, who has just retired from being officer \in charge of the telegraph office at Danedin, was, at a representative meeting of citizens in the Chamber of Commerce, prei sented with an illuminated address and a travelling trunk. In the evening the Postmaster-General, on behalf of the telegraph staff, presented him with a photographic album of members of the staff, bearing a suitable inscription.
