I havo to request you to publish rules bearing ou the subject; and J may state that should any further remarks of a similar character appear by any responsible- person having a knowledge of tho game, i consider ib will bo my duty to publish a full report; of all that took place between Mr J. A. Boroham and myself during tho match. Ib is to mo a now idea that a player's action should bo called in question for studying his game, even when "time " ia called. Would you also bo so kind ai to publish tho following from Goulds match games ; kindly publish it with rules Band 24, from Anderson, tho rules which tho match was played under, and oblige £>. A. Rule 26 in Gould says: "Either player committing a breach of any of theso laws must submit to tho penalty imposed ; and any person acting as rotereo in a match is equally bound to act under and enforce tho laws." Rule 8 in Andor&on bays : "At tho end of fivo minutes (if tho move has nob been i proviounly made) ' time ' must bo called \m a dbtiuot manner by tho person ■ appointed for the purpose ; and if tho movo bo not completed on the expiration of another minute tho game shall bo adjudged as lost through improper delay,' Rule 24 says; " Either player committing ! a breach of any of these laws must sub- !
