TIMARU RACES. (BY TELEGRAPH.) Timaru, April 6.
The races were concluded to-day in fine weather. There was a good attendance, but the racing was not so interesting as on tho first day. L1920 wont through the machine, tho grand total for tho two days being L3740, an increase of L1250 on the autumn meeting of 1893. Results : Hukdlm, of 35 «ovi ; about one mile ana alialf. Mr Waddell'a Empire, by Natator, lOsl 101b (Cotton) 1 Mr Holmes' Clarence, aged, list 71bs (F. Holmes) 2 Mr Daly's ch g Invader, 9st 91ba (Sharp) 3 Jacob Faithful Ost Vlb (Flockton), and Freeborn 9at (R. Allan) also ran. Irom an unoven start Empire was again soon at the head of affairi. At the first hurdle Invader carried away the wing, and Freeborn followed him off, and Jacob Faithful carried the hurdles away, and gave Flockton a bit of a dusting. This left Empire and Olarence in, and the former won easily by about a length and a half. Time— 3 miru. Dividend,
