DEATH OF MR W. J. A. SANDERSON.
(West Australian, November 30.) Tho news of tho comparatively sudden death of Mr W, J. A. Smderaon, at the onrly ago of 30, will bo received by business men both in tho city and coloi.y with doop rogrot. Although Mr Sinderson only carno hero somo two years ago ho proved himself a keen business man, and enjoyed thoconfidonco and respect of the commercial men o^ tho colony. Born in Indin, and af an early nge emigrating with his parents to Now Zealand, ho was there educated at Mr Morton's school, Rnngiora, and at OhriHtohurch College. Aftor a short stay in tho Tolegraph Department, whore ho m»do great progress, ho fou\)d tho work uncongenial to his tasfcos, and shortly after ongaged with his father-in-hw in the lumber trade. For aomo considerable Hmo ho took an active part in tho municipal aflhirs of (Xunaru, tho town whoru ho rc-Wod, Shortly after his artival horc, in conjunction with Mr T. J. Long, ho took ovov tho iron foundry and engineering businoas of Mr Sowden, and in a short time converted it into one of tho chief manufacturing and importing busineHsesin the colony. Owing to ihe.Mfcenfcioti it w»»a necessary to pay to the bi'tewss, Mr Sanderson did not ongngo in political matters in the colony. It is, howovor, understood thab he had intended to contest 1 one of tho seats at tbo ensuing general oloctions. Tho deceased gontloni'in hud boon in oxoellent health until Saturday last, when ho was attacked with diphtheria, and although every effort was mado to onture his recovery, ho quietly p«BBod away athalfpaab live yebtorday morning, and waß buried in tho cemotory yesterday afternoon. Quito a largo numbor of residents attended tho funeral. Tho pall-bearers wero Councillors Haynos and Huret, Messrs It. T, Wright, 0. G. M'Shnnq, Gilbert A. Aitkon, and W. S. Savage. The deoGaaod was buriod in iho Wosleyan Cemetery, the officiating clergyman being the Rev. W. A. Potte. Tho funeral arrangements wore in the hands of Mr H. Falconer. Several of 'Mr Sanderson's family havo lately boon attuokod by diphthoria, and only a fortnight ago ono of the boys died from tho disease to which Mr Sandoreon has now succumbed. At present there are only Mrs Sanderson and two convalescent children on tho pre mses, three others having been sent away. As to how tho diseaso seized upon tho household, Dr Haynes is of opinion that tho gertna must havo existed in a well on tho pi\mifleB. Tho wqll will be filled up. Mr Sanderson was connootod with the Stock Exchange of Perth, which adjourned yosfcerday morning out of respect to his momory, He was also tho chairman of directors of tho Wpstorn Starr-Bowkotb Sooiety, Tho greatest sympathy U felt for tho deceased gentleman's widow and ohildron, of whom ho has left five surviving.
