There was magnificent weather for the Agricultural and Pastoral Society's 6how, Sheep were not so numerous as usuaI, but the quality was superior. In merinos Douglas M'Lean almost swppt the board, carrying ofl both championships, and btating three sheep recent y imported from A. J. Murray's celebrated Victorian flock, exhibited by Woburn Station. The Lincoln ram championship was easily taken hy J. N. Williams, with a magnificent sheep just imported from Enghnd, from ihe Kirkham stud flock. The judges declared this to be the finest Lincoln ever exhibited in New Zealand. The champion ewe exhibited by A. M'Hardy was bred by J. B. Sutton. R. Hardy took most of the Romney Marsh prizes. W. Nelson wai most successful in Leicesters and Shropshires. In cattle Archdeacon Williams was the principal prize-taker. The champion bull was Ribey Royal, bred by the Archdeacon, which beat Oxford Roan Duke (chtmpion at the principal shows in Otago and Canterbury). Only shorthorns were exhibited. Mr Douglas' Torpedo was champion thoroughbred stallion. Douglas M'Lean's Marquis of Salisbury wa3 the champion draught stallion. Pigs and produce were well represented at the show. The implements were the largest show ever seen on the Hastings grouud.
